Finned Backstrap for Magpul MIAD 1.1 – Midwest Industries Grey/FDE

Based on the Exile Machine backfin for Magpul MIAD 1.1 grips, this finned backstrap was created as a solution to California’s idiotic assault weapon laws. This backstrap converts a “pistol grip” Magpul MIAD 1.1 grip to a finned grip that is allowed on “featureless” semi-automatic rifles. When you leave the state, simply replace this with a normal backstrap, and you are good-to-go without having to unscrew and remove your grip.

This product was designed for use with the gen 1.1 MIAD grip. If you have the original 1.0 MIAD, this item will work but the fit will be very tight; you’ll probably have to tap it on and off with a mallet for installation and removal.

    Fit and function of this backfin is great. Had to knock two stars because instead of a FDE color, the two I ordered arrived as more of a nude looking color and don’t match up with the furniture for my rifles.

      Thanks for the feedback, and I’m sorry about the color variance. It’s been difficult to source FDE filament similar to Magpul’s color every since the pandemic began, and the color I previously used still isn’t available from my supplier.     I have purchased two of these now for a FDE SCAR and a standard black AR. These are an ideal option if you’re looking to add a fin to your MIAD grip. The fin fits great with a tight lockup. The thumb rest is a nice feature that gives another contact point preserving one handed manipulation. Shipping was fast. The only complaint I had initially was that the fde color was a bit…off. The company stepped up and their customer service to fix this problem was stellar (see the other review). Long story short, I’d buy it again and I’d recommend the black model (and the fde variant when the color gets fixed) to anyone in the market for a grip fin like this.
